SDE Conference in Louisiana

Wendie and I spent a lot of time preparing for the SDE conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. The conference is on Reading, Writing, Math, and More!  and is going on now. Sounds so amazing- we wish we could have attended. But we are so excited to be part of Teachers of TpT and be able to promote our products with other amazing TpT teachers.  We created some super cute goody bags for teachers attending the conference and worked like mad to get bags filled and shipped. Here is a sneak peak...
Inside the goody bag you will receive a highlighter, math task cards, and a yummy treat.  The highlighter has the cute dragon you see on our blog. We love how they turned out!

Wendie and I are committed to creating quality, easy to use products that won't bust your budget. In addition, every item in our TpT store is on sale 20% off from June 25-June 28.  So, if you are attending the SDE conference in New Orleans, Louisiana be sure to stop by the TeachersPayTeachers table for your freebies.

Two for Tuesday Sale!

Who doesn't love a good sale? I do!! I am super excited to be linking up with The Teaching Tribune (TTT) to join other awesome sellers.

Wendie and I love using our Math Jumbles and Critical Crumbs. They are super popular with kids and teachers. We wrote them following the four critical areas in math for third grade. But, they can also  be used as review questions or enrichment. They are perfect for CGI questions, math stations, or math practice. We previously put our first set on sale and now we have the second set for 50% off.

Summer Bloggin'

http://www.theteachingtribune.com/
Wow! We are in week 4 of summer bloggin' and I am enjoying getting to know other bloggers. You too can join the fun by linking up to The Teaching Tribune.

Today- I get to share a bit of myself with all of you. Hopefully, you will link up and I can get to know you a bit better too.
I found these and thought wow introverts and extroverts are so different- complete night and day. Interestingly enough, I married an extrovert! I guess opposites do attract.

Summer Reading

I love to read and was super excited to learn that Cassie from Funky in Fourth was having a summer reading linky party. There are so many great books to read that it can be a bit overwhelming, so I love how Cassie divided her books into different categories.
I am currently reading Rigorous Reading and have been enjoying the combination of old, new and borrowed strategies. The QR Reader links to videos that provide further information on strategies. They are very helpful. Reading in the Wild is a book that provides strategies to encourage lifelong reading habits. A total must read.
There is even a current book study going on. Visit Think, Wonder, & Teach to get more info.

Ooo... my favorite category. Children's literature is the best. Here are some that I want to get to this summer.

I obviously read everything Wendie writes (the other half of 2 Smart Wenches). She has Rain Shadow coming in July. I am so looking forward to reading it.

I am a huge fan of miniature gardens. I can spend tons of time creating and admiring these little worlds.
My sister-in-law Christie recommended Buddha's Brain as a good read. The cover is just lovely and who doesn't want happiness, love, and wisdom in their life.

Teacher Tip

Happy Thursday! I am feeling so much better and have so much to catch up on now.

I am linking up again with The Teaching Tribune to share with you a tip that is an oldie but a goodie. The OHIO principle or Only Handle It Once is an easy and efficient way to stay productive. It works great for emails, memos from our office box, and paperwork. I think the 4 T's for MOMeO magazine help add some order to the OHIO principle.

Update! I totally thought it was a teacher tip so took it super serious. But it's vacation so I added a more fitting one.

Dear Martha...

http://www.theteachingtribune.com/

Well, writing a letter to myself seemed easy enough. NOT! There was so much I wanted to say to myself. Talk about some free therapy. But, nonetheless, I enjoyed writing a piece about me to share with all of you.

Monday Meet Me

I have been out of commission for a few days with a cold. I am feeling so much better, but getting a cold the first week of summer vacation was no fun.

First, I want to congratulate Cindy and Mel for winning our Starbucks gift cards. I hope you will have time this summer to sit back, relax, and enjoy a refreshing Starbucks beverage.

More good news...

I am linking up with The Teaching Tribune again this week. Yay! So, let's get to know one another better :)

I Teach: This will be my 21st year teaching. I have taught first through sixth grade and I have enjoyed each grade, but I will admit that third grade has been my all time favorite. This coming school year,  I will be teaching 4th grade and am so excited my brain keeps coming up with new ideas to try.

I Have: Two golden retrievers (Lefty and LuLu) and a terrier mix (Little Guy). They are one of the biggest loves of my life. My three rescue house rabbits are hilarious - Molly is the boss lady, Harley (aka Buddha) if you saw her you would understand, and Quinn (sweetie).

I Watch: When I am working on school work, blogging, or creating I am usually catching up on my favorite TV shows. I enjoy the BBC channel and Masterpiece PBS (Downton Abbey and Mr. Selfridge).

I Listen: I was in my early teens during the 80's so I am completely nostalgic about that decade of music. Now that I am older I enjoy all types/genres of music. It totally depends on the mood I am in.

I Read: I love, love, love, historical fiction. Some of my favorites have been The Thirteenth Tale, The Shadow of the Wind, and Outlander. One of my passions is children's literature. I have discovered over the years that a good book can generate thinking, compassion, and creativity so much better than a lecture.

I Do: What I love- teaching. Blogging has allowed me to learn, share, and continue to grow in my profession. While creating products has given me a creative outlet.

Hope to get to know you a little better too.
